Most people long to make a difference, but they just don’t know how to do so. Jumbled Dreams is trying to help with that issue. Many people think that you have to write a huge check or make a large donation of supplies to be considered “making a difference,” when actually that is not true. Did you know that you can make a difference by simply packing toiletry bags or winter kits?
When I tell most people that we are having a packing day many blow me off. Granted, we are not seeing any of our homeless friends, not volunteering with anyone except us, so that turns most people off and they no longer care. But for the few who decide to show up and pack close to 300 bags, they quickly realize how much of a difference it will make!
It was a beautiful Sunday afternoon and we were able to line my driveway with all the toiletries and not be cooped up in the garage! Staff members from OHM-Advisors in Nashville joined us to see what all the fun was about as they had just finished a huge collection for us. They were joined by Echos for Hope students from Ravenwood High School.
I quickly explained what to do and they all created an assembly line with the two kits we were creating: toiletry and winter kits.
Toiletry Kits included shampoo, conditioner, body wash, toothbrush, toothpaste, razors, and hand sanitizer.
Winter Kits included a hat, gloves, tissues, hand warmers, socks, and chapstick.
In an hour and a half, we were able to pack 250 bags of each kit! Isn’t that amazing?! The packs were then boxed up and we took them to our event called Christmas Dreams. Something as simple as packing a toiletry bag can change someone’s life. I’d love for you to be the changemaker with us!
