Open Your Hand

Recently I celebrated my birthday.  Instead of gifts to me, I set up a “Go Fund Me” for the Jessamine County Homeless Coalition.  My niece Sydnee lives in Tennessee and has a real heart to help the homeless.  Monthly I contribute to her cause.  But I live in Kentucky and decided I would like to do something for the homeless who are housed just a few miles from my home.  My page netted $100 for the Jessamine County Homeless Coalition, and I am thankful for gifts sent in honor of my birthday.  The Jessamine County Homeless Coalition provides temporary shelter and other essential services.  I thank God every day that I have a roof over my head and food on my table.  If you are fortunate enough to have these things why not consider sharing what you have with those less fortunate?  We are told in Deuteronomy 15:11 “For there will never cease to be poor people in the lane; that is why I am commanding you, ‘You must willingly open your hand to your afflicted and poor brother in your land.’”
