An Experience of Bullying- Kawartha Lakes, Ontario

What is your story?
When I was in grade 7 there was a girl at my school who would always pick on me. She would say mean things to me and about me whenever she was around me. One time she stole my chapstick and shoved a bunch of pencil shavings in it. Another time, she threw a basketball at me, bouncing it hard from only a meter away and told me I wouldn’t make the basketball team. Another time, she put a worm in my hair.
What can you tell others who are going through the similar things?
Whenever this girl was mean to me, I would always fight back with kindness. I was always nice to her, never retaliating for anything. Eventually, she did stop. Mg advice to anyone who is going through similar things is to not fight back, but always treat them the way you want to be treated. Yes, it is important to stand up for yourself, and I did talk to the principal about it several times, but wherever possible, try to be as kind to them as possible.
