An Experience of Bullying- Brentwood, TN

What is your story?
Growing up I was super quiet and kept to myself a lot. In 1st-10th grade sometimes even in 11th grade, I was asked questions or people made comments about my body weight, appearance, and just my personality. Three situations that stood out and impacted me the most were when I was called “Chubs” when I was in 6th grade at swim practice, also in middle school a girl would either throw something at me(like a ball, in gym)or use some type of physical contact in ways that would hurt me physically and then act like she didn’t mean to when she only did this towards me, and then in 11th grade a guy asked me “What if you got skinny?”. These made me very self conscious and made me not happy with the person I was. I was very quiet and no one even knows about any of these situations because I was afraid that if I went to try to talk to someone, then I would be told I was dramatic or just overthinking the situations. Overall it put me in a really dark spot and I still to this day am very reserved and quiet because of all the bullying situations.
What can you tell others who are going through the similar things?
For others dealing with similar things, do not ever let someone put you in a bad spot due to the lack of their respect. If something happens speak up and talk to someone about it. If you aren’t comfortable with talking to someone about your situations a good this to do is write and just take time to yourself. Always know you are worthy of anything and most importantly YOU ARE LOVED by so so many!
